CLIENT:
A major designer and manufacturer of power control and switching
systems.
CHALLENGE:
The client was saddled with a manual system of assembling paper
documents from a massive archive of technical data, and hand making
copies of engineering submittals. Client wanted to put all technical
documents into PDF format on CDs.
SOLUTION:
MarketSense advised the client to avoid a CD solution and develop
a web application that could assemble complete submittals.
We developed a web based solution that captured all technical documents
in past, present, and future versions, tied them to a vast combination
of part numbers while combining it with boilerplate submittal material.
This streamlined the ability of the client to login and easily create
a new submittal, specify the equipment, choose from a generated
list of related documents, create a cover letter and save a submittal.
That submittal could then be shared with the client through a client-specific
web interface, or sent as a PDF or distributed on paper. The system
would then retain a permanent record of all submittals with exactly
the versions of technical document first included.
RESULTS:
The client is able to assemble proposal submittals in a fraction
of the time it took before, and with significantly greater quality,
presentation style, and flexibility. MarketSense brought value to
this situation through our marketing and lead management perspectives
identifying a part of the client's business process that was less
than optimal. Our ability to draw on the web development team to
streamline the process far beyond a simple CD of PDFs helped accelerate
the client's sales process, while doing it with less time and effort.
